Ernie was adopted in the late summer of 2023. He is a Ragdoll and was 3 years old at the time. I first saw Ernie on the website, rescueme.com, where he was being rehomed. I saw his floofy little picture and had to call about him. I didn’t realize when I picked up the phone initially that he was actually located on the West Coast, in California (I’m on the East Coast). The first thing I said was, I didn’t realize you were on the West Coast, if we were a match would you even consider someone so far away? Her response was unbelievable. She said, actually I’ll be flying to the East Coast for a conference in six days, so if you were a match I could fly him to you. We spoke multiple times on the phone where she told me all about him. We facetimed and I showed her where he would live and she showed me where he came from. She was looking for someone who is home a lot to give him attention and a big backyard that he could go outside in on a leash. I was a really good match and we decided to do it. To avoid long layovers with him, she decided to fly into Boston’s Logan airport. So we went drove 3 hours and met them at the airport. It was unbelievable how everything just fit together. Ernie joined our family of all days, on my birthday.

These days, Ernie enjoys going outside on his harness and cruising through the backyard sniffing and eating grass. He likes to watch the squirrels and birds which we have a lot of around here. He has a big porch where he sits in the window a lot and gets to watch things at ground level. He loves to play and anything interactive that he can chase and stalk he’s all about. He loves to follow us from room to room and participate in anything that happens to be going on.
