Sophie was rescued from The Boston Animal Rescue League in January of 2014. We had recently lost our beloved 17 year old cat, and our house and hearts were too empty. That’s when we decided to head over to the shelter to see who was looking for a home. We circled through a few times, and then out of nowhere stood this little ball of black and white fluff at the front of her cage. She was mewing over and over directly to us, waiting for us to get to her. We knew the minute we saw her sweet face she was going to be the newest member of our family. We scooped her up to meet her and saw how excited and affectionate she was and immediately started the paperwork.
It was then that we found out this poor baby had a rough start in life. She had been pulled from a semi hoarding situation with lots of other animals stacked in crates. She had been waiting for a home for two months throughout the entire holiday season. We were even more thankful then, we had found her. Unfortunately within 24 hrs of being home she wound up with double eye infections that lasted 3 months, alongside an upper respiratory infection. Although a little tough for her, she quickly realized she was our baby and trusted us.
She became famous by accident with us just posting pics of how adorable we thought she was to our friends. People enjoyed following her adventures outside on her leash and gained many more followers when the “boy next door” cat named Scottie started coming over to visit her. She also slept in a tiny IKEA doll bed that she got in ready to be tucked into each night that everyone fell in love with.
Unfortunately she had an unforseen blockage in June 2017 and vomited during intubation causing aspiration pneumonia which she was unable to recover from. She is missed more then I could ever put into words. We are all blessed to still have her cherished videos and pics that will live on.
